About Us
We Grow with Your Child
Bamboo International School’s Chinese-English bilingual programs offer culturally diverse education for children of 9 months to 5 years old.
Research has proven that children who participate in bilingual programs reach higher levels of language proficiency, academic achievement, intercultural sensitivities, and cognitive skills.
The exposure to different cultures and languages benefits the children, their families and the community. These skills prepare our students for more diverse, unique opportunities in education and future career choices in an increasingly sophisticated world.
Our Story
Emily was two bilingual children’s mom who used to work as a supply chain manager before 2015. When she became a mother for the first time, she and her husband -- an Intel engineer -- decided to take a couple of college classes on Early Childhood Education, because Emily knew how important parenting and education are for every child’s early years.
However, as busy parents with challenging work schedules, Emily and her husband found it extremely difficult to find an ideal daycare that could meet their expectations and balance their life/work schedules. Both of her kids started to go to childcare in their very early months: they got dropped off in the very early morning and picked up very late. However, there was not even one childcare center fully satisfied the expectations from her family for good care and quality education.
If Emily had been an ordinary working mother, our story would have ended here. However, knowing the importance of early childhood education and the struggles of working moms to balance their work and family, Emily came up with the idea to start a bilingual child center which would help working moms in our community, taking care of their young children and providing quality early childhood education, so they can endeavor for their career without concerns.
In 2015, Emily left her position of supply chain manager and founded Bamboo International School. Over the years, Bamboo has enlisted outstanding educators who love children and are passionate about education. We are dedicated to provide quality care and outstanding bilingual early childhood education; we also strive to improve the pay and benefits for our amazing teachers so their income matches the value they create.
On May 3rd, 2021 Bamboo International School opened its second location at Bethany Village. Our journey continues and we aspire to make Bamboo a better program.
Philosophy
Bamboo International School is inspired by the Reggio-Emilia approach: we value children as the center to their own learning, not simply an empty vessel waiting to be filled with knowledge. We believe that children are able to pursue their own interests and revisit and build upon ideas at their own pace.
We believe that children thrive in an environment which values their own uniqueness, while providing support and opportunities for them to grow emotionally, socially and creatively. By building on each child’s strengths, interests and curiosities, we guide each child to explore the world around them as well as develop new abilities and form close relationships.
From language and literacy development to social skills and creative expression, the children at Bamboo Bethany are constantly engaged in well designed, developmentally appropriate activities. These activities build on the strengths and interests of each child and help them explore their full potentials and build a solid foundation where they can develop their futures. Why Chinese-English Bilingual
There are several benefits of learning Chinese in early childhood:
Brain development: Studies have shown that children who are exposed to multiple languages have a cognitive advantage. Learning a second language at a young age can help develop the brain and improve memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills.
Cultural awareness: By learning Chinese, children can develop an appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture, history, and traditions. This can help them become more culturally aware and open-minded.
Communication skills: Learning Chinese can help improve a child's communication skills, as they learn to express themselves in a new language and understand others who speak it.
Employment opportunities: Knowing Chinese can be a valuable asset in today's global job market, as China is a rapidly growing economy and many businesses have a presence there.
Increased confidence: Learning a new language can be a challenging experience, but it can also be extremely rewarding. As children master the language, they will feel a sense of pride and confidence in their abilities.
Overall, learning Chinese in early childhood can have a positive impact on a child's cognitive, cultural, and personal development.
